KWA was engaged by Steiner Lesic Communications on behalf of a coalition of all of the Franklin County-based hospital systems to raise the visibility of an important issue within the health care delivery system - the advent of for-profit, limited-service specialty hospitals for cardiac and orthopedic care. Over a period of nine months, KWA engaged the local, regional and ultimately, national media in coverage of the pros and cons of these new hospitals. A total of more than 90 articles/broadcasts were generated, including a two-part article in the New York Times. The quality of coverage was extraordinary. Key messages from the client's perspective on the issue appeared in 89 percent of the coverage. The program earned an Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America.
